The results of the membership’s vote on the proposed winery on 39th Street is as follows: 22 in favor, 5 opposed. The vote was to provide a letter of support for the owners of a residence (in a residential district) to operate a limited winery out of their basement. Products would include wines made on site, regional wines, hard cider made on site with PA apples, cheese, pastries and local fruit. If successful with zoning and license processes it would be the first limited winery within the city.

LC and LU also supported the use and a joint letter will be issued to the zoning board.

The owners of 4035 Liberty are pursuing a renovation of the former Roth Carpet building to transform it into medical office space. The membership was generally supportive of the project as it would remove neighborhood blight and provide some quality amenities such as street trees. The parking requirement for the project is 51 spaces, and the project only provided 19 space, plus a Zip Car and a bike rack. This posed a problem for the neighboring residential district which already experiences parking problems. The membership voted to oppose the owner’s request for a Special Exception to the parking requirement. 8 votes were in favor, and 19 were opposed.

Over the last 24 hours we’ve added more that 10 new members!  Most have arrived by way of the LUPS list.  If you haven’t already done so, please complete the survey down below.

As you can see, this site is a work in progress and doesn’t get a lot of love.  We will soon appoint a Web Czar who can give it the attention it deserves.

At the annual meeting of 2006, the attending members agreed that we needed to reconnect with our membership and learn a bit about who we are, where we are, what our interests and concerns are, and what we’re good at. Being able to tailor Stakeholder activities to the interests of our members will help to set an agenda for the upcoming year.

Our Survey Committee (yes, we actually formed one), drafted a short questionnaire that will only take a few minutes to complete. It’s only 10 questions (the maximum allowed for free…). Please complete it by June 3o. Click here to take survey.

You have found your way to the new Lawrenceville Stakeholders website. Our goal, first and foremost, was to establish a web presence for those who want to know the basics – who we are, what we do, and how to contact us. Time will tell what this site ought to become, and how interactive it should be, but for now we’ll keep it simple. All the credit for this Stakeholder milestone goes to Carolyn Kellogg. Thanks, Carolyn!

Lawrenceville Stakeholders is a membership-driven community organization dedicated to promoting the revitalization and development of Lawrenceville’s residential sector. We seek to create the highest possible quality of life in the neighborhood through housing rehabilitation programs and initiatives that foster home ownership; organizing and advocacy in the areas of planning, zoning and building code policymaking and enforcement; thoughtful stewardship and marketing of the neighborhood’s assets; and the creation of and/or cooperation with other groups’ efforts to nurture sustainable, socially responsible growth in Lawrenceville.
